1.3 Revenue’s Charitable Donation Scheme
For this purpose we use the following data:
- A first and last name
- A home or other physical address
- An email address
- Donation history
- Tax reference information ie PPS number
- Electronic signature (if you complete an online tax certificate)
We process this data in order to:
- determine your eligibility for Revenue’s Charitable Donation Scheme;
- administer and retain tax certificates; and
- enable us to claim tax relief from Revenue, where applicable.
The basis on which we may process these data is:
- Legitimate interests, as it is in our interest as a charitable organisation to maximise the benefit of donations to sustain our services;
- Our legal duty under Section 848a of the Taxes Consolidation Act (TCA) 1997 which requires to process certain information as evidence of our compliance with Revenue’s Charitable Donation Scheme
- Your consent, where you complete and sign a tax certificate.

We retain this data for as long as required to comply with Revenue requirements and applicable law, namely 7 years following the date of eligible donations.

We may contact you by email, post or telephone in relation to the Charitable Donation Scheme, including to:
- inform you about your potential eligibility;
- request that you complete a tax certificate; or
- follow up on a form you have submitted.
Communication with you about the Charitable Donation Scheme is considered administrative in nature and is done on the basis of our legitimate interests in maximising income from charitable donations to further our charitable purpose.
